ESET announced that it had discovered a first spyware created from the open source spy tool AhMyth, which had not been detected by the Google application security scan process.
The malicious app, called Radio Balouch, also known as RB Music, functioned as a radio transmitter and had all its functional features.
However, according to ESET, the application contained hidden functionality that stole personal data from its users.
ESET identified two versions of the malicious googleplay app at two different times, and in each case it had more than 100 installs.
After receiving alerts, Googleo quickly removed it from your store.
?While the recommendation to download apps from official sources is upheld, it also does not guarantee total security. Therefore, it is recommended that users review each application they intend to install on their devices and do not grant unnecessary permissions or functions. Also, always use a mobile security solution, ?concludes Camilo Gutierrez, head of ESET Latin America Research Laboratory.
