Is it worth upgrading the kernel to the latest version?

Is it worthwhile to update the Linux kernel manually every time an update comes out?

Linux kernel updates are very frequent and many users, especially newer ones, are in doubt whether or not to update this sensitive part of the system, let's discuss it?

Is it always worth having the kernel updated?

This is a very interesting discussion to have, after all Kernel upgrade something you should or should not do?

First of all I would like to clarify a point, which I question upgrading from a version of the kernel not officially authorized by the operating system, for example, today the most current kernel 3.18 and Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, distract me I use, keep the kernel at version 3.13 still, which I wonder if it is worth installing the newer version manually, since I think all the new kernel (like any other update) that the system itself offers you should be installed /updated.
