Toyota has announced the launch of its new "2018 infotainment" system for Camry, a luxury sed of the very popular US brand, it now relies on Kernel Linux as a base through the AGL project, that we have commented here.
Although the system is new, its function remains the same as the old one, showing the information that is pertinent to the car to the driver, such as phone and multimedia functions, navigation and even other applications. The Linux-based hub will save Toyota from building a base system from scratch, making more time available to create customizations for it and delivering a unique experience to consumers. It would be similar to what happens with Android today with the various mobile device manufacturers, each starting from the same base, but creating different experiences for consumers through customizations.
The Toyota Camry costs more than 200 thousand reais here in Brazil.
