New Mac mini benchmark tops iMac scores

We here disclose the benchmarks the new iPad Pro (which made a nice leap from the previous generation) and the MacBook Air (this much more modest one). The time has come to see how the new Mac mini. For tablet and notebook, we're just talking about one processor model for each (the A12X Bionic on the iPad and the 1.6GHz Intel Core i5 on the MacBook Air).

On the Mac mini, however, we have three possible configurations: Intel Core i3 3.6GHz (quad core), Intel Core i5 3GHz (6-core) and Intel Core i7 3.2GHz (6-core) all eighth generation chips. O benchmark the sturdier Mac mini model (3.2GHz Intel Core i7 with 32GB RAM and UHD Graphics 630).

The same user ran the test twice, with a difference of minutes between them. In the first, the machine scored 5,070 in the single-core and 16,818 in multi-core; in the second, the scores were respectively 5,512 and 23,516. Why this difference? We do not know (perhaps at first the computer was also performing other tasks along with the test), but then we will use the best scores as a base after all, they were hit.

From them, the tests looked very similar to the MacBook Pro powered by a 2.9GHz Intel Core i9 (6-core), which scored 5,433 and 22,556. The new Mac mini also gets closer to the 2013 Macs Pro when it comes to performance. multi-core and surpasses them in single-core. With the exception of the Pro model, it surpasses the 2017 iMacs that unfortunately (not yet?) Were not updated by Apple this year.

If we compare with the old Mac mini, then cowardice the best test we have in the Geekbench Browser for the 2014 model reached 4,064 points in the single-core and 7,784 in multi-core. Further testing with the new machines will come, but with that already we will have to base on the maximum performance of Ma's new desktop.

Too bad for this performance, you need to spend a minimum of $ 1,300 (upgrading just the processor, not counting RAM and SSD). Obviously, we are talking about prices in the USA since, in Brazil, the new machines are still unavailable and it is not possible to see the values ??for customization. In the most basic model, the Mac mini now costs $ 800 compared to the $ 500 previously charged; In Brazil, the jump went from $ 3,850 to $ 7,000.
