Apple recognizes data loss issue on 13 ″ MacBooks Pro without Touch Bar

In addition to recall For some iPhones X, Apple also today announced the 13-inch MacBook Pro Solid State Drive Service Program (without Touch Bar).

The company says:

Apple has determined that a limited number of 128GB and 256GB solid state drives (SSD) used in 13-inch MacBook Pro (non-Touch Bar) drives present a problem that may result in data loss and drive failure. 13-inch MacBook Pro units with affected units sold between June 2017 and June 2018.

Affected consumers should take their MacBooks Pro to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Center for free SSD repair, and this is highly recommended as there is a possibility of data being lost.

Before bringing the Mac for repair, users should back up the machine completely as it is returned with a new drive reset and MacOS installed as standard.

The worldwide repair program does not extend the standard warranty coverage of the 13 inch MacBook Pro. It covers machines up to three years from the original date of purchase.
