Google Translate gains new language support and real-time text recognition

Google Translate received today (29/7) an update that makes it even more interesting. The new update brings support for new languages ??and a new feature called Word Lens, capable of translating text in real time with the help of the device camera. Check out the details in the article below.

The new version of Google Translate brings new functionality that is out of its experimental phase and is working to its full satisfaction. I am referring to Word Lens, a tool capable of translating text and inserted words anywhere, such as on boards, letters, papers and even monitors. Best of all, Word Lens was designed with a new algorithm by Google engineers, which enables optical letter recognition across any surface such as crumpled papers, scribbled or dirty plates. Word Lens was based on several texts and phrases inserted in CAPTCHAs, which were constantly tested, read and recognized during the internal testing phase of the tool. To use the new function just go to Google Translate and click on the camera icon that appears in the left corner of the text drawer. After the application update, a screen about the new features is displayed to the user, as indicated in the image below:

For now, the feature supports 7 languages: English, German, Russian, Italian, French, Portuguese and Spanish. In addition to Word Lens, Google Translate has received support for new languages ??and improvements in existing languages, including: Bulgarian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Filipino, Finnish, Hungarian, Norwegian, Turkish, and Ukrainian.
