Adobe wants to know: Would you have the Linux Creative Suite?

This topic was opened by a user after a tweet from Adobe Customer Care mentioned that it would not have enough market share for such size.

Many who begin their journey in the Linux world wonder if the tools of Adobe (Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, Premiere, etc.) has versions for the system as they are already used to using such tools and switching to another would result in a learning curve that not everyone is willing to do Adobe wants to know: Would you have the Linux Creative Suite?

Adobe has often claimed that Linux would not have a very large base to invest in and carry its most famous penguin tools, so much so that in 2011 they issued a note through their product manager, Carey Burgess, saying that the Adobe Creative Cloud package was on the radar of the engineers to make the port, but they were unable to do it at the moment.

Recently, a user questioned on Adobe's Twitter why they ignored Linux porting, specifically Adobe Premiere, asking if it was costly to port and if they had a market request for it. In response to this user, the Adobe account commented that their engineering "has limited resources and there is not a large enough demand for a Linux version of Premiere yet" (is it?). The Adobe account also asked to access the forum link for staff to vote and leave a comment. See the tweet below.

To get an idea of ??the strength and a possible market that could be opened, Forbes journalist Jason Gospel surveyed his Twitter with a sample of 1600 votes, where he asked what factor still prevented people from use MacOS and Windows to switch to Linux and 25% of people voted not to have a version of Adobe applications, followed by 23% not to have hardware support and 43% to Games. You can check the research here.

This shows that the Linux market can grow very fast if a company like Adobe opens the system, noting its benefits.

In the meantime, we have applications that can be used fully and to a high degree of satisfaction. We have GIMP and with our add-on PhotoGimp can make coming to Linux much smoother and easier

There is also Inkscape for those who need to vectorize images that are very high quality. Other software that has been gaining notoriety Kdenlive for video editing, responsible for producing the Diolinux YouTube channel

At the moment poll has more than 4266 votes and 1172 comments asking the download of Adobe programs for Linux. As print below.

This shows that the market is slowly turning its eyes to open source systems, having the Ubuntu as a flagship, thus opening up for this new portion of the population, which may drive more people to join Linux, either through distros like Ubuntu and Linux Mint, or others.

Until next time and a big hug.
