Microsoft Edge wins beta versions for macOS and Windows

After a leak and start of early browser testing period Microsoft Edgefinally the redmond giant released the first beta version of its cross platform browser to macOS and Windows.

It is worth noting, however, that there are not many differences (in design, more specifically) between the previous version and the browser beta, the latter being only more stable in both operating systems.

In this release, Microsoft has implemented a new tracking prevention API, as well as extensions to the Microsoft Insider Addons store and Chromium-based third-party galleries, such as the Chrome Web Store.

According to the company, Microsoft Edge is designed for macOS to ?offer a similar experience to Windows,? but optimized to approach the style of the Ma platform, such as MacBook Pro Touch Bar support and Dark mode, introduced with macOS Mojave.

During the early testing period, macOS and Windows users downloaded the browser more than 1 million times, and Microsoft received more than 140,000 comments on enhancements as the company also expanded its crash rewards program for the latest. beta versions, offering up to $ 15,000 for high impact vulnerability findings.

Redmond's company said its goal with the (re) launch of the Edge browser is to create a better web environment (both in compatibility and performance) while ensuring less fragmentation for developers.

The Microsoft Edge beta is available for download from the Microsoft website for users of macOS Yosemite 10.10 (or later) and Windows 7 onwards. Owners of iPhones and iPads can also take advantage of synchronization features with the mobile version of the browser.
