Can I buy an iPhone 11 or 11 Pro in the United States?

The day before yesterday, right after Apple's special event, we published an article detailing everything about the different models of iPhones 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max, as well as Apple Watches Series 5, which will be sold in North America and Europe considering what we Brazilians need to be aware of with respect to the national 4G (LTE).

The most common, however, is that Brazilians travel to the United States to buy these "toys". So this whole article focused on this: can I buy an iPhone 11/11 Pro (or Apple Watch Series 5) in the US?

The simplest answer: Yes you can. Always can, in fact, but there are some porn that you need to keep in mind. Let's do it by steps.

What model to buy?

Since last year, Apple s markets a model of each product in the US. There was a time when there were 1 different models for certain carriers (AT&T + T-Mobile and Verizon + Sprint), but that doesn't happen anymore.

This year, models marketed in the US will be as follows:

  • A2111: iPhone 11
  • A2160: iPhone 11 Pro
  • A2161: iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • A2094: Apple Watch Series 5 GPS + Cellular (40mm)
  • A2095: Apple Watch Series 5 GPS + Cellular (44mm)

That is, there is not much to "invent" here.

Will these be the models sold in Brazil?

At the. Also as last year, will come to Brazil models sold in Europe different from all these.

Even so, Apple offers support / warranty for them nationwide. The only exception, until last year, was Apple Watches Series 4 with cellular connectivity but that should change this year (hopefully), as Americans will also support our 4G bands 3 and 7.

What is the difference between American and European models?

As always, the big cucumber supports it differently 4G network bands (LTE).

Roughly speaking, this year any iPhone or Apple Watch you buy in the US will work in Brazil. They all support the bands 3 (1,800MHz) and 7 (2,600MHz), widely used by national operators.

What the American iPhones 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max can't support, and neither the American and European Apple Watches Series 5, either. band 28 (700MHz APT), which has been gradually adopted by national operators after the analogue TV signals were turned off. This band offers more 4G signal range / penetration and, through "carrier aggregation" technology, allows for higher speeds that are marketed in our country as "4.5G".

In other words, you will be able to use an American iPhone 11/11 Pro / 11 Pro Max without any problems in Brazil. But it may be that the same European model gets a better 4G signal in certain places, as well as achieving higher download / upload rates.

Where / how to buy in the US?

The ideal always buy directly from Apple, paying full price (full price) of the products. This ensures that they will be 100% unlocked for use on any carrier.

The Best Buy retailer, for example, often has good stocks of iPhones and even makes promos (out of launch times, of course), but the vast majority of devices it sells are tied to a carrier and therefore locked out for use only. with that carrier. Therefore, we do not recommend purchasing iPhones from Best Buy or similar stores.

Buying iPhone 11 SIM-free and unlocked

Buying from Apple (either online or in a physical store), there is no risk. And this year, it's even easier because she already sells that version right away ?SIM-Free? iPhones really intended for those who want it "clean" and 100% unlocked. This one doesn't even come with any carrier chip in the tray (and usually the model that comes with that little metal tool to open the tray).

This is a strong indication that Apple has prepared a good stock of these new handsets for launch (and / or not expecting overwhelming demand, too) in years past, such a model was just starting to be marketed 1-2 months after launch.

When does presale start?

Also new this year is the time to start pre-selling new iPhones tomorrow, september 13 (Friday).

Presale has always been around Cupertino around midnight. This time, Apple has decided to change the time to 5 am there, which is equivalent to 9am, by the time of Braslia. No need to get up early, therefore. ?

If you have questions about how to shop online, this two-year-old tutorial is still almost fully valid. It's a good guide if you have questions about the whole process.
