According to Anatel's monthly report, Brazil ended July with 276.15 million active lines in mobile telephony. In all, we had an increase of 446.2 thousand lines. Analyzing this data,
the number of cell phones operating only with 2G networks in the country fell to less than half for the first time. As a result of this reduction, we had a breakthrough of other technologies such as 3G and 4G.
At the beginning of the year, the number of 3G-enabled lines was almost 105 million, and in July this number increased to 130 million lines. In this sense, it is important to note that, even with the low penetration of 4G services in the country, the service has considerably unburdened the 3G network, which provides users with a better internet experience.
The introduction of smartphones that offer 4 generation internet technology was directly responsible for the decrease in the percentage share of accesses to 2G networks, as well as the operators' investment in 4G service in the country. To get an idea of ??the progress of LTE in Brazil, mobile broadband totaled 132.89 million accesses, of which 3.67 million were from devices with 4G network support in July. The same service had 1.56 million lines in January this year.
