Uber Transit is the new feature of the Uber app that shows real-time public transport options. The tool displays information about city bus, train or subway lines within the Uber app. Thus, the user can compare routes and choose the best option according to price and time. The function is expected to arrive in Brazil in the coming days and, for now, only users of the city of So Paulo will have new access.

For example, when a passenger searches for a destination, the app will display various possibilities to make that journey, either by using a Uber car in its different categories (such as X, Black and Together) or by public transportation. If the user chooses the first option, he can order the race normally. Already if he prefers the second alternative, the app will offer detailed directions on the route, such as hikes the person should do or what are the places and times of boarding.

Here in Brazil, nothing changes with respect to payment: the user must pay his ticket at the place of embarkation as usual. In Denver, United States, it is already possible to buy the ticket by the app itself, avoiding queues when taking the transport. This option, however, is not yet expected to arrive here. In addition, it is noteworthy that Uber has no advantage if the user chooses public transport rather than a race for the app.

For Keith Hensley, Uber's director of partnerships, the service's main goal is to help users make decisions in their daily lives. "What we are doing is giving the user options so that he can choose the best one for him. If that means that public transport is the best, most economical or efficient option, he should make use of it. We believe we can help cities make more efficient choices, "said the executive.

To make the news work, Uber has partnered with the Moovit transport app. The app, like Uber Transit, shows you the best options for getting around a city using public transportation. Uber will make use of data provided by Moovit to feed the new function of the app. As Jump bikes and scooters are not yet available in Brazil, the app will not include these transportation options.

Uber Transit is another Uber urban mobility initiative. The company intends to focus several shipping options on its application. Other initiatives include shared bicycles and scooters, the creation of uberAIR, a flying car to travel short distances quickly, and the development of an autonomous car. In addition, the company has integrated Uber Eats into the main app so that the user can have all services in one app. For now, there is no expected arrival of Uber Transit to other cities in the country.
