As we reported earlier this year, the Mageia 7 would come with many news in its final verse, and so it was. Just giving a historical background, she is a French distro that emerged in September 2010, as a fork of the famous Mandriva Linux, which had its latest version released in 2011 and no further updates to date. The company itself, Mandriva, declared bankruptcy years later.
As said before, they will still offer both 32-bit and 64-bit ISOs. Another important thing to note is that Mageia enables their non-free repository by default, thus enabling the installation of proprietary WIFI drivers, NVIDIA and AMD cards, and can be disabled if required.
In this new version, some programs and graphic environments have been updated, the list consists of:
RPM version 22.214.171.124;
DNF Version 4.2.6 (Dandified Yum);
Kernel in version 5.1 and X.org in version 1.20.4;
AMD drivers come with the latest AMDGPU enabled, as well as MESA Driver 19.1;
NVIDIA drivers are on the latest version of the Nouveau driver, also come in non-free repositories, 430 versions for newer GPUs and 340 and 390 versions for older GPUs. The CUDA in version 10.1.168.
Desktop versions available: Plasma version 5.15, Gnome version 3.32, XFCE version 4.13, MATE version 1.22.0, Cinnamon version 4.0 and Enlightenment version E22.4.
