In conjunction with the purchase of Meebo and KikScore, Google also announced the acquisition of Quickoffice, an app for Android and iOS that offers an easy way to edit Microsoft Office documents on mobile devices.
Today, consumers, businesses, and schools use Google Apps to do things from anywhere, with anyone, on any device. Quickoffice has an established track record of enabling interoperability with popular file formats and we will be working to bring its powerful technology to our Apps product suite, posted Alan Warren, Director of Engineering at Google.
Although Drive and Docs has a mobile app, editing features are still essentially limited. With the addition of Quickoffice, however, the Google app should gain a push and experience from its developers.
