Ten Useful Slack Functions on PC | Social networks

Slack users can leverage native program functions to make working conversations more functional. The tool allows you to schedule messaging, send automatic messages with Slackbot, enable a Do Not Disturb mode so you won't be bothered by chats while you perform tasks, and even send GIFs in conversations.

The tool integrates with other services for different purposes, such as Google Drive and Trello, and also allows you to change the aesthetics of chats, changing the fonts of sent texts, platform colors and even activating Night Mode. Slack recently released the Night Mode platform on the computer. The feature works on both desktop and web versions. Until then, it was only possible to change the color scheme of the graphic details of the screen to, but it remained the white standard. Now, the entire page receives dark gray as the predominant color, and you can also change the colors of the details.

To enable Night Mode, access the menu by tapping the channel name located in the left corner of the screen, and select Preferences. Then go to Themes and choose the Dark option.

Slackbot is Slack's autoresponder robot. The tool allows channel users to customize the answers that will be given by the bot when specific questions are asked in conversations. Action helps save time, as the program itself answers questions for you. To customize the answers, go to the settings menu and go to Customize Slack. Then select the Slackbot tab.

Native integration with Giphy lets you easily add GIFs to conversations. To use the animations, simply type the command / giphy, followed by the desired GIF theme, such as / giphy cats. A random figure suggestion will appear for you to evaluate if you like it is possible to confirm the submission, raffle another GIF or cancel the action.

Slack has an Apps Directory that enables integration with many external applications. You can sync data with Google Drive, Trello, Gmail, Outlook, Google Calendar, One Drive, and many other useful tools for everyday data management. The Directory can be accessed from the side menu under the Add Apps option.

Some basic conversation commands can be triggered by the keyboard. You can talk directly to a colleague using @ followed by their name. Slack also allows you to trigger commands to perform actions easily. To do this, just type / followed by the desired command. To invite a user to the channel, for example, just type / invite + @ username.

You can also easily navigate between channels using keyboard commands. Enter # and view all the rooms you attend. Then simply choose the desired channel and jump straight to it.

It is possible to silence a specific channel to stop receiving notifications. The feature is useful when performing an important task where you do not want to be disturbed. To do this, press the / mute command and enter the desired channel name.

You can schedule reminders to remind channel members or a specific person about performing important tasks. The Remind function sends an automatic message at the predetermined time to notify employees of the action. To schedule a reminder, trigger the command / remember + the name of the channel or person + the message. Then the system will ask when the message should be sent, allowing the user to determine the ideal time.

8. Mark messages as unread

An easy way to flag a message by marking as unread. This way you will always see the notification that there is news in the conversation, avoiding forgetting something important. To do this, tap the three dots next to the message and select Mark as unread.

Slack allows you to format the text in bold, italic and strikethrough. To type in bold, enclose the text in asterisks: * example *. For italics, use underlines: _example_. J to leave strikethrough text, use the tilde: ~ example ~.
