The Municipal Secretariat of Mobility and Transport (SMT) of the City of So Paulo considers UBus, an application bus service operated by Metra, to be clandestine. According to the note initially sent to the Transport Daily and obtained by TechTudo, the service is not accredited, and can be considered irregular transport. Also according to the text, accreditation aims to ensure safety and prevent the occurrence of accidents. SMT had already forced the company to suspend service on Tuesday (1).
UBus began operating in partnership with Metra on the 25th, linking So Bernardo do Campo, at ABC Paulista, and Berrini, in the South Zone of So Paulo. The startup also issued a position, saying it is just a technology company, which has no buses and requires its partner operators to have public concession in the area of ??public transport.

The UBus app, available for Android and iPhone (iOS), has had thousands of downloads since the 23rd, even before the service began. The program informs schedules, prices and seat availability, as well as giving a preview of the time of disembarkation. Priced at $ 14.50, the buses are executive and feature reclining seats, plus air conditioning, Wi-Fi and USB ports.
Following is the full note sent by SMT from the So Paulo City Hall:
"The Municipal Secretariat of Mobility and Transport (SMT) informs that the service is not accredited and therefore clandestine. The accreditation aims to ensure the safety of muncips and prevent the occurrence of accidents. Complaints about irregular passenger transport can be made by the phone 156, the application or the portal sp156.prefeitura.sp.gov.br. It is necessary to inform the vehicle license plate number, location and time of the infraction. "
The company's response was also confirmed by the TechTudo and follows below:
"The startup Ubus clarifies that only one technology company, created to bridge the gap between passengers and legalized transport operators. Ubus did not have its own vehicle. It is up to the concessionaire to provide all transport services and assistance to the user. To become a partner of Ubus the operator must have the public concession in the area of ??public transport, as well as all the necessary documentation to carry out the activity, such as the case of Metra, on line 376. Ubus was created with the intention of helping to solve the mobility problem. Brazil, offering excellent, comfortable public transport with all the amenities of on-demand applications, but with a more affordable value. "
