We talked about the Duet Display for the first time in 2015, and since then the software has become a hit with users, allowing them to use iPhones and iPads as a second screen for Macs / PCs. With the arrival of the resource SidecarHowever, the developer felt that it should innovate even more so as not to suffer from Apple's native feature. And she did so, by announcing that now You can also use Androids devices as a second screen..
You can enjoy the feature on both Macs (with macOS Mojave 10.14.2 or later) and PCs (running Windows 10) from a wired or wireless connection. The new feature is available on almost every smartphone or tablet running the Android 7.1 Nougat or later, plus Chromebooks that support Google's mobile operating system.
Duet Display's performance on Android should be similar to the iOS version, however, Duet CEO and founder Rahul Dewan said even more features will be added over time:
As our iOS product has five years of development, we expect (the Android version) to be the same as we continue to develop it and find new optimizations.
As for Sidecar, Dewan said Apple's appeal was made for "ordinary" users and there is no reason to throw in the towel.
Sidecar is a free product made for casual users, and we have many features that they don't have. So even on newer iPads, serious professionals who want to integrate their gadgets to your workflow you will probably prefer Duet's performance and customization.
You can download Duet Display for macOS or Windows from their official website. The Android app version is also available on Google Play. To use the full functionality of the service, however, you must purchase the full version within the app.
