After doing the job, the employee receives the money from the app itself, available for iPhone (iOS) and Android phones. Uber has stated that it has plans to expand the platform, but is currently focused on ensuring the success of the company's activities in Chicago. Therefore, there is no forecast for the launch of Uber Works in other cities and countries, such as Brazil.

Uber Works aims to help companies seeking employees for work shifts, freelance activities or temporary vacancies. The platform is also an alternative for workers looking for paid activities in their free time, or for people working exclusively as a freelancer. The service partners with recruitment firms in the United States to accompany the professional from job search to payment for the service.
Uber Works registration requires information such as personal data and users' shift and work preferences. In addition, it is possible to inform the desired salary, personal skills and other characteristics to complete the profile and attract recruiters on the platform. Companies, in turn, can check candidate data during the recruitment process and hire the worker within the virtual environment created by the platform.
Users can also use the app as a tool to manage hours worked and receive payment for services. Among the functions of Uber Works is the option of managing breaks and determining inbound and outbound work schedules, the important resource for setting overtime, for example. Contractors have access to this data as a kind of virtual control point, thus recording the professional's work routine.

According to Uber, the plan will soon provide platform services to enhance users' working skills. To this end, the company is negotiating with organizations that support workers who need to retrain themselves to offer online courses or in-person activities to Uber Works users.
The app was initially released only in Chicago, and should be progressively available in other locations. However, due to the varying labor rules of each country, the initiative can cause polemics and encounter legal barriers in certain places and even within the United States.
Recently, the state of California has created a law that requires companies using independent contracts to reclassify workers as employees, not freelancers or freelancers. The initiative thus guarantees all professional rights classified by state labor law.
