Android 4.4.2 KitKat: bug blocks use of ringing sounds

The problem

When you download an audio file directly to your smartphone, there is usually no problem transferring it, with the help of a file manager, from the download folder to the appropriate folder called "Notifications", "Alarms" or "Ringtones". Unfortunately, Android 4.4.2 presents a problem, and downloaded files are not viewed for download.

The solution

There is a way around the problem: Just transfer the audio file with your computer to the desired folder. It will then appear in the ringtone list. You just need to connect your smartphone to your computer via USB or use an app like AirDroid.
