Instagram released on Wednesday (9) a revamped look for the Stories camera that rearranges functions and features a design similar to Snapchat. One of the highlights is the new Create mode, which reveals several creative functions previously accessed by stickers, and This Day, a feature dedicated to fans of the hashtag #tbt that was in the profile side menu and comes up whenever there are old photos to repost.

Part of the news was in testing since April, but with a carousel layout. The new camera arrives for everyone in the latest app update, available for free download on Android and iPhone (iOS).

The camera's main change, Create mode is enough to replace the Typing tool. In addition to the colorful background text feature, the novelty highlights all the features of Stories that do not necessarily require the capture of photos or videos. These are: GIFs, Countdown, Test, Poll, and Questions. In each of them, the app shows a button that changes the content randomly and helps you get ideas for posting. Also, the user no longer needs to take pictures for the background of posts with this kind of content.
Redesigning the camera also makes filters more accessible: as soon as you open the camera, Normal mode displays masks and effects side by side, with the same look as rival Snapchat. The same goes for Live mode, Boomerang, Superzoom and Free Hands options, which remain as standalone functions. In addition, there is a new shortcut to open the mobile gallery, which is still accessible from the bottom up.

The new camera arrives soon after the social network announces that it will remove the "Following" tab. The Facebook-owned company had also released a new dark look for Night Mode on iOS 13, Android 10 and some Android 9 models.
