Exactly one week ago, Samsung announced the new flagship of the company for 2013. The Galaxy S4 arrive in Brazil on April 26, costing $ 2,399 on 3G and $ 2,499 on 4G, but has not yet been released officially which of the processors pack the device around here. Now, what we know is that competition in the domestic market will not be easy for the fourth generation of the Galaxy S series, other manufacturers also entered the High End segment in 2013 and will face South Korean. We put the Galaxy S4 side by side with the Xperia ZQ, Optimus G and Nexus 4, check out our comparative chart.
Before checking the table below, it is worth mentioning that the information was taken from the official pages of the devices. This table is based on smartphones that will be marketed in the first half of 2013 in Brazil and, since the handsets have not yet hit the market, the chart below only illustrates the specifications of each of the devices for the sole purpose of comparing hardware and resources.
That said, I would like to make a few points regarding some point items of smartphones, but first, feel free to review them one by one in the table below:
Regarding the processors, it is undeniable that the Galaxy S4 is unbeatable, as it is the only one that brings the new generation of chipsets present in the market, in both versions: Qualcomm and Samsung. However, it is worth remembering that Snapdragon S4 Pro offers excellent performance as well, but it is energy saving in this case.
Regarding the processor present in the Xperia ZQ, Nexus 4 and Optimus G, the differences will be felt according to the software present in each one of them and the use of resources as well as applications and the multitasking capacity of each. Also we can not compare cores and clock of the same, since they are equal.
What is obvious is that the Galaxy S4 has unmatched multitasking capability, independent of the processor.
Check out our comparative chart of the Galaxy S4 and the Android and Android Premium smartphones in the market.
The RAM of the four devices is the same, but that does not necessarily mean that they behave the same way. The RAM is directly linked to the speed of the device and, therefore, we can say that the operating system can influence the use of resources. However, as both devices come with very advanced software, it is not difficult to say that everyone will run flakes with 2G of memory without problems.
Still related to the storage capacity of the handsets, both Nexus 4 and Optimus G are losing in this race, as they do not offer the possibility to expand the memory of the device. Let there be cloud for them! Here, the Galaxy S4 is unbeatable, as it can reach up to 128GB of memory (using the SD card).
Regarding the camera of the devices, the Nexus 4 is far behind in terms of lens. Already the Galaxy S4 is head to head with the Xperia ZQ, here is all about camera features, which may give the GS4 some advantage because of the Dual Camera function.
There are few differences between the versions of Android that run on each device. The Galaxy S4 and Nexus 4 bring the latest version of Google's operating system, Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2, the difference being that with a Nexus device, the chances of updating the device with the latest software functions once released are certain. .
In terms of OS, Sony and LG may be lacking, as both manufacturers are not known for the rapid update of their devices, at least compared to Samsung.
When it comes to the battery of the handsets, the Galaxy S4 raises the trophy, especially because both versions of its processors work with battery economy, offering more power autonomy. Now, with respect to the Xperia ZQ, Nexus 4 and Optimus G, Sony has decided to be more considerate about the handset's usage time. However, it is clear that the battery is directly related to the stress of use of the device (multimedia, 3G / 4G, games, active screen time …).
As soon as I gathered the information for this comparison, I already knew of the inevitable superiority of the Galaxy S4, but it is also inevitable to say that premium devices from manufacturers other than Google will not reach the national market such as Xperia Z and LG Optimus G Pro, or even one of the biggest competitors in Sammy's new flagship, the HTC One.
Another issue, we need to talk about the white elephant in the room: LG. The Korean manufacturer is competing with you as it is clear that, depending on how much value the Nexus 4 gets in the country, the Optimus G may run aground on the national retail shelf, as LG's flagship does not offer much distance from the Nexus 4. , smartphone built by LG in partnership with Google.
We still don't know the value of Xperia ZQ in Brazil, in terms of High End smartphones, this seems to me to be one of the biggest contenders for the Galaxy S4 in Brazil. In my opinion, the four devices are excellent and bring unique features when compared to each other, however, the Galaxy S4 bears the title of top of the line smartphone in this comparison.
And which of these devices do you take home and why? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
