YouTube has begun displaying a new home page design starting last Thursday (7). The change includes larger thumbnails, reducing the number of videos that appear at one time on one page. In addition, the platform now offers playlist capability and greater autonomy to customize the type of content suggested by the site. The redesigned look has already begun to be released to everyone on the web, as well as iPad (iOS) and Android tablet apps. The mobile app remains unchanged.

Adoption of larger video thumbnails decreases the density of items displayed on the page: instead of five, there are now four columns. Also, the titles are longer and the channel icons are more visible. According to YouTube, the user should see more information as soon as they open the site, something that should help them better understand what a particular content is about before clicking.
YouTube also brings to the web version the playlist function, which already existed on mobile. The feature allows you to add videos in a row to watch everything in sequence: just hover over a thumbnail and click on the corresponding option. Playlists will not be saved after the user closes the tab.

The platform also debuts the Do Not Recommend Channel option, which allows you to remove certain channel from your suggestions. According to the company, it will soon be possible to also customize the topics that appear in the home screen of recommendations, in addition to changing the videos that play in sequence after you finish watching a content.
