Mac does not connect? 9 Steps You Must Follow

When it comes to technology, there are few things more frustrating than a computer that can't connect to the Internet even when it should be working or even working on other devices. If you are experiencing this issue and your Mac is not connecting, please be aware that there are several reasons that may be causing this.

1. Check your connection

The first and most obvious step is to verify that the problem is not really in your connection. Even if you have other devices connected to the WiFi network, there is still a chance that there is a problem regarding the router that could cause your Mac not to connect to the Internet.

As much as this seems to be the typical troubleshooting issue with your provider's operators, do the following:

Step 1: Unplug your modem and wait 1-2 minutes to turn it on again. So wait for the modem to boot up completely – this may take up to 2 minutes depending on the device. After that, make sure you can already connect your computer.

7. Change WiFi Network Configuration

This step is a bit more technical, but don't worry, we'll help you get it right. The goal is to change the channel of your WiFi router to select one that is less congested and receives less interference, which may be why your Mac won't connect.

8. Verify Your TCP / IP Settings

Some IPv4 public DNS you can include are:

  • Google: Primary (8.8.8.8) and Secondary (8.8.8.4)
  • DNS Watch: Primary (84.200.69.80) and Secondary (84.200.70.40)
  • OpenDNS: Primary (189.38.95.95) and Secondary (189.38.95.96)
  • Cloudflare DNS: Primary (1.1.1.1) and Secondary (1.0.0.1)
