The love theme of Brazil on Instagram follows an international trend: worldwide, the most used GIF in Stories was the Heart of Instagram. This is repeated with the popularity of the heart filter and the publication of the emoji by users more than 14 billion times on the social network. According to Instagram, the platform is a space made for users to express themselves creatively and get closer to the people and things they love. We are happy to see that sharing love and kindness is still one of the top priorities of the Instagram community, the social network said in an official statement.

In contrast to the most popular love hashtags used by Brazilians, those that had the greatest growth referred to fashion (#lookdodia and #modafeminina) or to the celebrations of the year: World Cup and Carnival. Worldwide, the Fortnite game has made explosive progress, being the fastest growing hashtag globally.

Challenges have become a fever on Instagram

In 2018, Instagram users starred in a series of viral challenges. The social network was filled with quirks and quirks that were somewhat curious. One was to pretend to be dead, asking followers to comment on RIP (Rest In Peace, which means Rest in Peace, in free translation) in the last profile photo, lamenting the alleged death of the user. The goal of the prank was to gain followers and likes, but action was interpreted by Instagram as disrespecting the Community Guidelines.

Users of the network also tried to reproduce the gesture that British player Dele Alli made when celebrating a goal during the World Cup in the challenge of the finger in the eye. Celebrities engaged in the joke, which spread to other social networks. Another fashion in 2018 was #FallingStarsChallenge, which consisted of posing for photos lying down, with your face on the floor, and disclosing next to you valuable items that came out of bags or pockets during the false fall. The idea was to display belongings in a good-natured way.
