2009 INFO Award: iPhone 3GS is elected best smartphone and hardware; iMac wins as best desktop

2009 INFO Award Seal

As we announced at the beginning of October, Apple participated with some nominations in the INFO 2009 Award and even our partner FingerTips also competed in two categories. Tonight the winners announced the event: Apple won three awards, but Google prevailed in most categories (9 out of 41!), Second only to Twitter and Firefox.

This year, a total of 5,593 readers from INFO made the selection among 123 names, nominated by journalists and technicians of the magazine. The votes were sent via the web or the form inserted in the October issue of the magazine. Google was voted “Company of the Year” with 60% of the vote, but Apple came in second, with 26%.

Microsoft won in "Operating System" with Windows 7, leaving Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard in second place. In “Notebooks”, the 13 ″ MacBook Aluminum lost to the VAIO VGN-AW180AU, but stood in front of the LG P310. In contrast, on "Desktops" the 24 ″ iMac (yes, the 27 ″ was not even considered!) Reigned, beating the TouchSmart IQ520br (from HP) and the Studio Hybrid 140G (from Dell).

In the “Smartphones”, the iPhone 3GS has skyrocketed, surpassing the BlackBerry Storm 9500 (from RIM) and the Jt GT-S8000B (from Samsung). Incredibly, the device also had more than half the votes in "Hardware", leaving the Luxia LED TV UN40B7000 (from Samsung) and the Netbook Scarlet X120 (from LG) behind.

Unfortunately, FingerTips did not win in either category in which it participated. In “Entrepreneur of the Year”, Ricardo Longo was second, since Gilberto Mautner (from Locaweb) won 65% of the votes. J in “Mobile Application”, SuperGuia.TV s came in third place, losing to OndeEstou (from Apontador MapLink) and Yahoo! Go.
