Stalkear is the aportuguesamento of the verb «to stalk «, which in English means to chase. In real life, the act indicates a serious violation of the privacy of the «stalked» individual, but the meaning is different in the virtual world. The expression is used synonymously to enter someone’s profile and check everything about the person. In other words, the «stalker» is the good old snooper.

«Spoiler» derives from the English verb “to spoil”, Which means» spoil «. When someone reveals information about the plot of books, movies or series, we say that person spoiled it. In other words, it was a «killjoy» and ruined the experience of those who waited to consume the content for the first time.

«Iti malia» is an expression used when it means that something is very cute. The term varies from «Virgin Mary», but is spoken as if imitating the pronunciation of a small child. The idea is to refer affectionately to animals, babies or someone you like, like crush.

4. Biscuit maker / Give cookie

Imagine the situation: you are browsing the feed of your social network and are faced with a picture of a man without a shirt, with a healed body. The caption says something like «Gordinho … I need to lose some weight». Below is a series of praise for the boy’s good shape. This is the classic «cookie maker»: a person who does everything to attract attention and win likes. «Giving a cookie,» therefore, means praising someone. However, the term is used in a mocking tone, to respond to people who are clearly seeking recognition.

One of the most widely used slang across the Internet, the verb «shippar» is derived from the English word «relationship», which means «relationship», and is used as a synonym for supporting the union of a couple. The term began to be used by fans of series, movies or books who would like to see their favorite characters together. To encourage romance, it is common to mix the names of the couple and publicize the «shipname» with a hashtag – Finn and Rachel become #Finchel, for example.

A frequent target of stalkadas, the «crush» is the person you are attracted to, have a romantic interest in or are in love with. The term can also be used to refer to someone who is admired. This is the case of the «crush of friendship», which concerns a person you do not know, but who would very much like you to be your friend. In other words, crush replaces the good old «flirt».

Usually accompanied by a hashtag, the expression «Sextou» celebrates the arrival of Friday. Slang is so popular with Brazilians on Instagram that it was noticed and adopted by foreigners, but with a slightly different connotation. «Sextou» was interpreted as «Sex to U» (sex for you, in Portuguese), a tag dedicated to the publication of pornographic content.

«Vem de zap» is the new way to ask for someone’s cell phone number and ask that person to contact you through WhatsApp. The expression usually comes at the end of a humorous line, always full of emojis.

«To send nudes» is to send intimate photos over the Internet. The practice is very common during sexting, which consists of sharing erotic content – messages, images or videos – in messengers and social networks.

«Contatinho» is simply that person whose number you have saved in the phone book and look for when you are silly. Unlike crush, for whom the person has a more intense feeling, the contact is someone to have fun without commitment. Thus, when the person says that he has many contacts, it means that he has many options for men or women to go out while not conquering the long-awaited crush.

Traditionally used to stop subscribing to a service or cancel an appointment, the verb «cancel» has gained a new connotation on social networks. When a celebrity does something controversial, offensive or prejudiced, she is promptly «canceled». In other words, the person is boycotted by users, who suspend their support for them.

«Gado» is the famous «pau mandado», that is, that person who does everything that others ask and does not have a personality of his own. The term started being used to define men who work out just to win women, but later it was expanded and started to refer to those who do everything to please someone.

13. God forbid but I wish

The expression plays with two controversial ideas: that the person completely rejects something (God forbid), but at the same time very much wants it to happen (I wish). Extremely popular on social media, the slang crossed the borders of online communities and ended up in the choruses of country hits.

Have you ever ignored a situation and then pretended that nothing had happened? So you «faked dementia».

The expression «denies the heyday» became popular on Twitter and can express mockery or praise. If a user shares an explicitly false news, for example, you can comment “deny the pinnacle” to say that believing a fake news the type would be the “height” of the person’s ridicule. If your intention is to praise someone, it is worth saying something like «deny it, you are the height of beauty today». In this case, «deny» is a way to call someone affectionately.

When someone asks you to «step less», celebrate: you just received a compliment. The phrase is used to refer to people who rock what they are doing.

The famous «hello, gone» is the favorite hook of the little contacts who disappear without explanation and, suddenly, decide to resume the conversation with you. The expression is a clear sign of flirting, but it can also be used by people who want to chat in a relaxed way with friends they haven’t seen in a while.
