1394 Trade Association announces the sale of 2 billion FireWire ports

FireWire

The 2 billion doors represent a significant new milestone for 1394, said Max Bassler, president of the 1394 Trade Association.

“As impressive as that are FireWire's innovative applications in new generations of industrial automation, vision systems and production equipment.

FireWire will continue its steady and steady growth throughout 2011, when we will migrate to the first products operating with 1.6Gbp transfers and 1394 to be superior to competing interfaces in a variety of sectors.

A little history: did you know that the first iPod connected exclusively via FireWire? At the time, USB ports were too slow to allow music transfers to be made at an acceptable rate.
