The success of the Ministry of Finance initiative that brought taxpayers’ debts to the Internet is proven to be successful. This explains why the Government is updating this «list of shame» consecutively.
Yesterday the list received a new update to include the names of 1400 new contributors. The new names increase to 13 thousand the number of debtors with identity exposed on the website created for this purpose.
According to data from the ministry, since the beginning of this year, 8,000 new taxpayers have been included in the debtor list, making the number of debtors who have already seen their name on this page rise to 21,000.
With regard to payments made with the initiative, the Ministry of Finance reveals that it has already managed to recover 520 million euros.
The Porto district is the one with the most advertised contributors on the debtors list, followed by those in Lisbon, Braga and Setúbal.
