100 more engineers for Nokia Siemens

Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) plans to hire up to 100 more engineers in 2010, to respond to the increased demand for services provided by the company in Portugal.

The strategy was announced during the official inauguration of the Global Network Solutions Center (GNSC), this Wednesday, in Lisbon.

NSN’s director for southern Europe, João Picoito, justified the reinforcement of the team with the «explosion of demand» of the services provided by the company, and guaranteed that the objective is to continue to invest in the national market, maintaining a strong exporter of know-how.

NSN currently employs 580 engineers, which means that it has more than tripled the goal initially announced.

Ninety percent of the center’s engineers are Portuguese nationals.

«In the protocol with the Portuguese State, it was established to hire 180 collaborators and at the time, and even without reaching cruising speed, we already have 600 collaborators», said João Picoito, at the opening ceremony of Nokia Siemens Networks’ GNSC, quoted by Lusa .
