$ 1.44 billion deal extends GSM network in China

Throughout this year, Ericsson will reinforce GSM coverage in China. The network will grow thanks to a $ 1.44 billion agreement signed with China Mobile and China Unicom, which reinforces the Swedish company’s global position as a supplier of radio equipment and related technical and support services.

Ericsson released the figures for the agreement yesterday, guaranteeing that work on the two companies’ network should be completed later this year.

The agreement with China Mobile is worth US $ 1.3 billion and will also allow the operator to take advantage of new technologies to reduce the energy consumption of its network. About the agreement with China Unicom it was revealed that it will also serve to provide multimedia solutions for Wireless access.
