↪ New iPod touch * doesn’t * have ambient light sensor

↪ iPod touch thickness is responsible for the lack of ambient light sensor

Brightness adjustment on iPod touch (5th generation) on the left and iPhone 4S on the right.

Kevin C. Tofel went from one indoor environment to another, outside (more lit) and thought that his new iPod touch was broken or with the automatic adjustment feature turned off, after all, the brightness remained the same. It turns out that the 5th generation iPod touch * does not * have an ambient light sensor, making this automatic adjustment impossible. In my view, this is Apple’s second blunder in the product – the first was the lack of controls and a microphone in the EarPods headphones that come with the new iPods.[[GigaOM]
